Infrastructure
PROFIBUS Cable, Connectors, Measuring Points & Repeaters
The right infrastructure makes the difference between quick troubleshooting and hours of downtime. PROFIBUS networks need more than just devices and cable—they need measuring points for diagnostic access, proper connectors for reliable termination, and quality cable that withstands industrial environments.

Additional Accessories
PROFIBUS Stripping Tool
Precision cable stripper designed specifically for PROFIBUS cable construction. Removes jacket and insulation without damaging conductors or shield.
Why it matters: Standard wire strippers can nick conductors or damage the foil shield, causing intermittent failures that are difficult to diagnose. Proper stripping tool ensures clean, reliable connections.
PROFIBUS Wireless Solutions
Wireless bridges for PROFIBUS communication where cable runs are impractical—mobile equipment, rotating machinery, cross-aisle connections.
Applications: AGVs, rotating tables, conveyor systems, temporary connections, hazardous area crossings. Maintains PROFIBUS protocol timing across wireless link.
Planning Guide
Use this checklist during PROFIBUS network design to ensure you have the right infrastructure for reliable operation and efficient troubleshooting:
For New Installations
- Measuring points: Install at master PLC, segment ends, and every 10-15 devices
- Cable type: Solid core for fixed runs, extreme drag-chain for moving equipment
- Connectors: Diagnostic connectors (with LEDs) at segment ends, standard connectors mid-segment
- Repeaters: Add when segment length exceeds baud rate limits or need more than 32 devices
- Spare parts: Stock 2-3 connectors, 50m cable, 1-2 repeaters per network
For Existing Networks (Retrofit)
- Priority #1: Add measuring points if missing—can't troubleshoot running networks without them
- Priority #2: Replace plastic connectors with shielded metal versions at segment ends
- Priority #3: Swap non-compliant cable (wrong impedance, single shield, unshielded)
- Check: Verify termination at both segment ends (220Ω ±5%)
- Document: Label all measuring points, repeaters, and segment boundaries
