CANBUSview XL III: SAE J1939 Monitor Extension License

This license activates the Protocol Monitor SAE J1939 software module on your CANBUSview XL III. The monitor reads the J1939 packets on your bus and decodes them into human-readable messages, so instead of raw CAN frames you see the source addresses, parameter groups, and individual signals your devices are exchanging. It is the decoding and display layer that sits on top of SAE J1939 quality analysis.

What it decodes

Received messages are interpreted according to the SAE J1939 specification:

• Source address, parameter group (PGN), and individual signals (SPN)
• Support for transport protocol and diagnostic messages
• Configurable formatting and display color

Built for analysis

Filter live traffic by source address, PGN, or SPN to narrow a busy network down to exactly the node or signal you are chasing. Configurable formatting and color coding make it easier to pick out what matters at a glance.

Why it matters

Quality analysis tells you the J1939 bus is clean. The Protocol Monitor tells you what the ECUs are actually reporting, so you can trace a specific signal, follow a diagnostic message, or isolate a misbehaving source address at the application layer instead of inferring it from raw frames. That is the difference between confirming the wiring and confirming the system.

What you need

This is a software module, not a standalone device. The Protocol Monitor SAE J1939 runs on a CANBUSview XL III for CAN base unit and requires the SAE J1939 analysis extension. If you do not already have the base unit and the SAE J1939 extension, add them to your order.
